After months of trying to buy a house I am finally cleared to close. Hopefully that will happen tomorrow. This has been one of those disastrous processes in which anything that could go wrong did. We had title issues, we had encroachment issues, there are permitting issues, a lot of work needs to be done before I can get a certificate of occupancy, somebody ripped out a bunch of copper, etc. etc. etc. This national mortgage crisis has made the whole process harded since 30310 is wrought with mortgage fraud and foreclosure - few lenders are willing to finance the project.
As soon as I close I’ll start a new blog category documenting the house transformation. Wish me luck.

I joined the Atlanta punkrock four piece Trial By Fire. Now we are the Atlanta punkrock five piece Trial By Fire. I play guitar. Nate plays bass. James plays guitar. Mike plays drums. John shouts at the emo kids in the rear of the club. Yup.

I’ve been so busy lately that this little blog has fallen way off the priority list. Excusable? Perhaps. Nobody reads this thing anyway. I just used it during graduate school as a way to take little breaks without having to get up from the computer or move my body. Shall I bother with a resurrection? A halfhearted attempt at breathing new life into it will probably be dangerous. I don’t want to create another undead zombie blog to further infect the web.
Hmm. I like zombies…
I chose to name my jewelry designs gravid matter. Matter is perceivable stuff. Gravid means pregnant, yes, but also full of meaning. My work usually crosses typological lines whereas some type of thing (matter) gets new meanings and potential as something else (is gravid). It becomes some other thing. The stronger the typological association a thing has, the more wrong it becomes to use it otherwise. I like the irreverence. But it is a serious irreverence (a grave matter, or is that taking it too far?). It also comes down to the fact that I like the words together. Psuedo alliterative and all that. Check it out.
The new website is up! Check it out at www.gravidmatter.com. I don’t have all the graphics worked out, but the site is fully operational. I’ll continue to update and develop it as I can.
I’m partnering up with my friend Marie, of MarieMarieSalon, to market our jewelry designs. We’ll take them around to Atlanta boutique shops later this month. Photos and ordering info coming soon to this site.

During my online hiatus I took a new job at PFVS Architects. We do highrise hotels. Take a look.
I decided to change jobs because I had only worked at praxis3 and figured I should get a broader office experience. Also, PFVS was struggling to change over to Revit, which I have been using for 4 years. I’ve been here just a couple of weeks. We’ll see how it goes.
I decided today that the strangest word in print in the English language is EIGHTH. Argue if you like.
EIGHTH. Eighth. Weird.
